As the days go by, more and more coronavirus infections are known and the curve accelerates. Health professionals are the ones on the front lines and one of the groups most at risk. This Sunday it was learned that there are 36 confirmed cases in the Guemes Sanatorium, in the City of Buenos Aires.
Who confirmed it was the director of the hospital, Alfredo Vidal, although he clarified that all the cases were registered since the beginning of the pandemic.
"We have 36 people from the health team who have been infected since the coronavirus arrived in Argentina. Fortunately, none of these cases are serious and some are close to recovering in the next few hours."
Vidal said that he has no record that any of them became infected while caring for patients within that health center: "We are not aware that it was that way."
In the Güemes Sanatorium there are some 118 people hospitalized by COVID-19, but seven of them are those who are housed in the Intensive Care rooms.
"Those seven are the patients who need a ventilator and are the most seriously ill . The rest are hospitalized in general area rooms, with minor care," added the doctor.
At the same time, he said that within the Güemes there are 300 total hospital beds "which makes it triple the size of a medium-sized sanatorium."
At the same time, Vidal assured that they are preparing for the next days and weeks that will be, according to him, the most complicated: "We are near the peak and we hope that moment is approaching."
