Eight candidates vying for the presidency of France Télévisions

Delphine Ernotte and Christopher Baldelli are among the “eligible” applicants. A decision is expected before Friday July 24.


The Superior council of audio-visual has just lifted the veil on the first stage of the process of nomination to the presidency of France Televisions. The body proceeded this Wednesday morning to the opening of applications. Twelve applicants had sent a file. At this stage of the procedure, the regulator declared eight admissible.

Among them, Delphine Ernotte , the current president of France Télévisions who is applying for a second term. Christopher Baldelli , the former boss of RTL and deputy managing director then managing director of France 2 between 1999 and 2005. Serge Schick , the former director of audience strategy and brand development for Radio France, as well as Pierre-Étienne Pommier , the digital advisor of the group La République en Marche (LREM) at the National Assembly, and Serge Cimino , representative of the SNJ at France Télévisions, are also on the list of "eligible".

Jean-Paul Philippot , who has just been re-elected head of RTBF, the Belgian public audiovisual sector and who left doubts about his possible candidacy for the presidency of France Télévisions, will be able to pass the second round. Finally, sports journalist Michel Goldstein , former professional footballer and commentator at the sports department of France Televisions as well as Sandrine Roustan , who directed the channel France 4 and works for the Chinese media group, Shanghai Media, are also part of the shorts -list.

A decision before Friday July 24

From next week, the CSA will audition the eight candidates. He drew lots for their order. Sandrine Roustan will present her project the first, Monday at 9 a.m. Serge Cimino will close the march on Tuesday July 21 at 4.45 p.m.

The first part of the auditions, lasting a maximum of one hour, will be filmed and broadcast live on the CSA website. A second part, also an hour, will take place behind closed doors. The regulator will make its decision no later than Friday July 24.
