Christina Aguilera educated on the black and white photo trend Salma Hayek also joined, and urged to find out about the origin.

In recent days, Instagram was filled with photos of black and white women accepting a challenge without giving any further explanation. Some of the photographs appeared with messages in support of women, but what is the true origin of this trend, which was also joined by thousands of celebrities?

Some posts were populated with the caption "Women Supporting Women," using the hashtags #challengeaccepted, #womensupportingwomen, and #blackandwhitechallenge and tagging the woman who nominated them. After posting their photo they nominate other women in their lives to continue the viral challenge.

According to the New York Times , more than 3 million people have used the hashtag #challengeaccepted in their posts so far. However, many of them do not know where it comes from or why it is done.

This movement was joined by famous Latinas such as Salma Hayek , Jennifer Lopez, Sofía Vergara, Demi Lovato, Zoe Saldaña, Eva Longoria, Roselyn Sánchez and more.

Although the initiative tries to promote sorority among women, it also has a powerful background, which few celebrities are talking about.

Christina Aguilera was one of the famous ones who only when knowing the origin of the challenge decided to accept it.

" #ChallengeAccepted . Knowing the origin of this trend, let's stand together and end violence against women everywhere," he wrote and added the hashtags # istanbulsözleşmesiyaşatır #womensupportingwomen . "Thanks for tagging me @ liliana.rutler," she added following the challenge's rules.

Although it is difficult to determine how the trend began, according to Times reports , the first publication that emerged with the hashtag #challengeaccepted was that of the Brazilian journalist Ana Paula Padrão , more than a week ago.

Tariro Mzezewa  offered another explanation for the challenge via Twitter. The travel journalist started a thread of tweets and wrote, " #ChallengeAccepted made no sense to me and bought the idea that it was just for the sake of vanity. I spoke to some women in Turkey this morning who say that (the movement) It started there as a response to them feeling frustrated at always seeing black and white photos of women who have been killed. Mzezewa explained that the original hashtags of the trend are written in Turkish and refer to domestic violence and femicide, but were removed as the challenge took hold in other countries and with celebrities out of context.

"The original hashtags accompanying it were # kadınaşiddetehayır # istanbulsözleşmesiyaşatır , which they have translated for me, say no to violence against women and enforce the Istanbul Treaty / Doctrine (where rights to protect women are signed)," he explained.

A celebrity who apparently also investigated the origins of the trend is Florence Pugh , who wrote on Instagram, "I have been told that the true meaning of this hashtag and this black and white photo is to shed light on the Istanbul Convention, as the Women are being subjected to violence and this convention is to end forgiveness for attackers / murderers. With that in mind, adjust hashtags if you don't already, "he said.
