"If in the next few hours the number of infections continues to increase and that of hospitalizations continues to rise with the current trend, we will be ready to take radical action to reverse this trend and better protect the health of all Sardinians". (HANDLE)

(ANSA) - CAGLIARI, OCTOBER 21 - "If in the next few hours the number of infections increases again and the number of hospitalizations continues to rise with the current trend, we will be ready to intervene in a radical way to reverse this trend and better protect the health of all Sardinians" .

This was declared by the president of the Sardinia Region Christian Solinas after the last bulletin issued by the regional crisis unit.

"This means - he explains - in agreement with the Minister of Health and with the help of the regional scientific committee, applying a 'Stop & Go' of 15 days for the main activities in Sardinia, with the simultaneous closure of ports and airports to limit the movement of people and, consequently, of the virus ".

Naturally, Solinas then announces, "we will prepare a series of economic support measures to support the losses deriving from the temporary suspension of activities".

"The progression of the contagion curve - underlines Solinas - is registering an acceleration that requires further and timely actions to avoid compromising the health system and the regular provision of care".

Until now, he adds, "thanks to the extraordinary commitment of the hospital, territorial and administrative staff, the emergency has been managed in an orderly and effective way".

But today, he clarifies, "we are faced with a new fact: the chains of contagion multiply exponentially because too many have lowered their guard and are underestimating the extent of the phenomenon, so much so that the simple appeal to common sense and responsibility in observing good practices (personal distancing , ban on gathering, hand hygiene) seem not to be sufficient "(ANSA).
