A violent dispute has broken out among the scouts in the USA, as reported by the BBC and the Guardian.
It's about girls membership.
The Boy Scouts, originally intended only for boys, have been accepting female members for two years and have started a corresponding recruiting campaign.
This move would undermine their brand, the Girl Scouts say.
In November 2018, they filed an initial lawsuit against trademark infringement.
The case is currently in federal court in Manhattan.
Boy Scouts Scouts want the lawsuit to be dropped and to continue using the words "scouts" and "scouting" in their promotional materials.
On Christmas Eve, a lawyer for the Girl Scouts has reiterated the allegations.
The Boy Scouts' offensive was "extremely harmful" to the girl scouts and had caused confusion among parents.
The Boy Scouts, in turn, accuse the Girl Scouts of having started a "war".
They have since renamed their program and now call it »Scouts BSA«.
This does not end the dispute.
Arbitrators must now be judges.
