Hundreds of black taxis formed a mourning column in front of Buckingham Palace.
The British cavalry saluted at Windsor Castle.
And the bells of Westminster Abbey struck 99 times - once for every year of Prince Philip's life.
Mourning ceremonies were held throughout the British Commonwealth, including Australia.
The British paid homage to Queen Elizabeth II's husband, especially with countless flowers.
But also with a glass of red wine.
And always in her very own British way.
