Coronavirus in Argentina: 224 deaths and 5,358 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours

After the weekend left the lowest number of infections in more than a year, this Monday the Government updated the figures of the pandemic.

In the last 24 hours,

5,358 new cases

and another

224 deaths

from coronavirus

were confirmed

in Argentina.

In this way, Argentina exceeds

5,178,889 infections

since the beginning of the health crisis.

Despite the slowdown in recent weeks, it remains the

8th highest figure

globally behind the United States (39.5 million), India (32.7 million), Brazil (20.7 million), Russia ( 6.9 million), the United Kingdom (6.7 million), France (6.7 million) and Turkey (6.3 million).

Meanwhile, covid-19 has already caused more than

111,607 deaths

, making it the

12th country

with the highest number of fatalities.

In recent weeks, along with a decrease in cases, the rate of positivity in the tests carried out also had a sharp drop.

The official report indicates that

Vaccines


This week, almost

5 million vaccines

will arrive in the country

on four flights

, according to a new schedule released by the Government.

Thus, a total of

55.4 million doses will

be reached

.

For tomorrow,

1,654,500 doses of AstraZeneca

are expected to arrive 

 via Air Canada flight AC7251.

Meanwhile, flights QR8155 and LH8264 are scheduled for Wednesday, which will bring

1,448,000 and 1,230,000 doses of Sinopharm

.

The operation will be completed on Friday, with a third shipment of

570,000 serum

made in China.

For this week the arrival of almost 5 million vaccines against the coronavirus is expected.

In addition, according to the announcement made by Minister Carla Vizzotti, the

first 100,000 Pfizer doses

will arrive next week

, for a contract of 20 million.

As of this morning, 47,610,449 serums had been distributed to the provinces, of which

5.6 million remain to be applied

Meeting of ministers

While the Government is closely watching the progress of the Delta variant, Minister Vizzotti chaired this Monday in San Luis a new session of

the Federal Health Council (Cofesa)

, in which representatives of the 23 provinces and the city of Buenos Aires participate .

In addition to the appearance of cases of the Delta in some provinces, in the meeting -which lasts until tomorrow-, the opening plan is being debated;

the monitoring of the indicators established by the Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) and the advancement of the vaccination plan, with a focus on the arrival of new vaccines and immunization in adolescents.

In addition to the issues related to the pandemic, the National Health Quality Plan, the advances of the National Human Talent Plan (admission and accreditation of residences), the draft regulation of the Chagas Law and the implementation of the laws of Voluntary Termination of Pregnancy (IVE) and Comprehensive Health Care and Care during Pregnancy and Early Childhood (1,000 Days).
