The doctors' union Marburger Bund published a survey for the around 55,000 doctors at the municipal hospitals before the next round of negotiations.
The results reflect a high level of dissatisfaction among physicians with their work situation.
A fifth of doctors are "definitely" planning a professional future outside of the hospital, according to the survey of 3,300 members published by the Marburger Bund on Sunday.
In addition, 60 percent of the clinicians stated that they felt "increasingly" exhausted.
31 percent of hospital doctors even feel "always" exhausted.
71 percent of those surveyed also stated that the corona pandemic had increased their workload.
Employer offer "completely unacceptable"
On Monday and Tuesday, the Marburger Bund and the association of municipal employers' associations want to negotiate in the fourth round of the collective bargaining conflict.
At the most recent talks in December, the doctors' union rejected the employer's offer as "completely unacceptable".
The offer provided for a total pay increase of 3.3 percent for the years 2023 and 2024 as well as a special corona payment of 1,200 euros.
The union is demanding five and a half percent more salaries and other improvements retroactive to October 1st.
The collective bargaining affects 500 clinics in Germany.
