Successful Vikings on Netflix: "Vikings: Valhalla" is heading for a second season.

We reveal when and what details of the plot are already known.

The "Vikings" around Ragnar Lothbrok

and his sons sailed across our screens for

six seasons .

The successful Viking series was produced by the History Channel in the USA.

But after 89 episodes it was over, the story of the brutal Northmen seemed to be over.

The crème de la crème:

At least that's what people thought until Netflix* came around the corner and secured the rights for a spin-off.

It takes place about 100 years after the events of the original and focuses, among other things, on the

famous Viking seafarer Leif Eriksson

The series was named Vikings: Valhalla and launched on February 25 on Netflix.

showrunner Jeb Stuart, confirmed in an interview that the second season of the Viking series has already been shot and is already in post-production.

That means the release date depends less on how long the series still has to be produced and more on how far Netflix wants the gap between seasons to be.
