Schulze was born in Berlin in 1947.

He studied German before concentrating on music.

He started out as a drummer with Tangerine Dream, then discovered electronics and was a member of Ash Ra Tempel for a while.

From 1972 he concentrated on his solo career.

Excessive instrumental synthesizer tracks

Specialists call his extravagant instrumental synthesizer tracks »Berlin School«.

Through his musical involvement, he shaped several styles that emerged from electronic music, from ambient to techno.

In his decades-long career, the musician was enormously productive.

He acted on more than 500 productions;

over 60 solo albums bear his name.

His records »Timewind« (1975), »Moondawn« (1976) and »Dune« (1979) are considered electronic music classics.

Schulze was always given much more attention internationally than in Germany.

David Bowie and Brian Eno praised him, Hollywood directors such as Michael Mann and Sofia Coppola use his music for their films.
