(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 14 - Simple Minds have announced the release of "Direction of The Heart", their eighteenth studio album, which will be released on 21 October by BMG.

The first single "Vision Thing" is also out.

Currently traveling around Europe with a new tour, the British band will return in the autumn with the new work after the 2018 release of "Walk Between Worlds".

Across its nine tracks, "Direction of The Heart" is a celebration of life.

Most of the tracks on "Direction Of The Heart" originated in Sicily, where both Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill live.

Unable to travel to the UK due to quarantine rules, the album was recorded at Chameleon Studios in Hamburg.

Here they produced the album (later enlisting AndyWright (Massive Attack, Echo & The Bunnymen) and Gavin Goldberg (Simply Red, KT Tunstall). Band members, bassist GedGrimes (who co-wrote two of the new songs, "First YouJump" and "Solstice Kiss"), drummer Cherisse Osei and singer Sarah Brown joined them on a few tracks, recording their parts separately in London. The hosts of the album, Sparks frontman Russell Mael ("HumanTraffic ") and Danny Wilson's Grimes songwriter and former musical partner Gary Clark (" Vision Thing "," First You Jump "and" Natural "),

"How to make a good 'Electro-rock' record, at the worst times? Direction Of The Heart is the result of that challenge. Would you ever think we would have so much fun creating it?" Commented Jim Kerr.

After their recently rescheduled 2020 tour, SimpleMinds will hold special shows in Europe this summer, these are the Italian dates: July 12 Teatro Antico di Taormina, July 14 Pescara, July 15 Pistoia Blues, July 17 Rome, July 18 Arena di Verona.
