Earthquake among the dragons of Hbo, the showrunner comes out

   Tolkien on Prime Video, Miguel Sapochnik, the showrunner and director of the Hbo show, is leaving the 'Game of Thrones' prequel series.

    No reason has been given for the decision, announced after the release of the second episode, other than that, after spending three years developing the prequel, Sapochnik will remain in Hbo to oversee new products, as well as executive producer of his latest 'baby'.

From the second season of 'House of the Dragon' another 'Game of Thrones' veteran, Alan Taylor, will join him.

'Dragon' co-creator Ryan Condal will continue as the unique showrunner in close communication with George RR Martin, the author of the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series of fantasy novels that gave rise to the franchise.

    "It was an impossible decision, but it was the right choice for me, personally and professionally," said Sapochnik, "comforted" that it will be Taylor, a two-time Emmy Award winner for 'The Throne of Swords' and nine episodes of the 'Sopranos', at pick up the baton from him.

'House of the Dragon', broadcast in Italy on Sky and Now, is doing very well in terms of audiences.

    The first installment of the show that precedes the 200-year-old 'Game of Thrones' adventures was premiered on Sunday by ten million people in the US, with 10.2 million continuing to watch the second episode, which came out last week.

According to HBO, nearly 25 million viewers have watched the first episode since its debut on August 21, which means that the Targaryen saga, already renewed for a second season, has the potential to match the success of the original series in terms of audience.
