Recall of pistachio nuts: Kaufland warns of mold poison

Caution is advised if you have recently purchased pistachios from Kaufland.
These could be contaminated with mold.
Stuttgart – Attention Kaufland customers: the supermarket is recalling its own brand K-Classic pistachio nuts.
The reason for this are fungi: During routine tests, increased levels of the mold toxin ochratoxin A were found, according to a food warning on Saturday.
Specifically, it is about K-Classic pistachio kernels roasted and without salt in the 100 gram pack with the expiration date April 22, 2023 and the batch number 21029/220726001.
Markets in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Brandenburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony and Saarland are affected.

Ochratoxin A can have a carcinogenic effect on the kidneys, which is why certain limit values have been set.
The toxin is formed naturally by mold and is found in various foods such as cereals, canned meat, fruit and cheese.
