On Christmas Eve, a woman attacked an 84-year-old woman in her apartment in Hanover.
The senior died a day later in hospital, police said.
According to previous knowledge, the 84-year-old wanted to leave her apartment around 12 p.m.
When she opened the apartment door, a woman was standing in the hallway.
The senior went back to her apartment, but the perpetrator followed and kicked the 84-year-old in the hallway on the hip.
The elderly fell.
While she was lying on the ground, the perpetrator first went through the apartment and fled.
Police are investigating robbery resulting in death
The elderly woman was able to call the fire brigade via the house emergency call.
She was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
She succumbed to her injuries on Sunday.
It is not yet known whether the perpetrator was able to steal anything.
The police are now asking for information from the public.

The perpetrator is said to be 1.70 meters tall and between 30 and 40 years old.
According to the police, the perpetrator has medium-blonde, shoulder-length hair and was wearing light-colored clothing.
