The star actress of Italian cinema Gina Lollobrigida died on Monday at the age of 95, reports the Italian press agency Ansa.
She had notably won seven David di Donatello in her career, the equivalent of the Caesars on the other side of the Alps.
It was with the French film "Fanfan la Tulipe" alongside Gérard Philipe in 1952 that her career was able to take off, which made her a real international star.
Invested in political life, she had notably tried to run for a seat in the Italian Senate, during the last elections in September, but her list had not crossed the electoral threshold necessary to obtain elected officials.
At the same time, she had been hospitalized after a fall at home which had caused her a broken femur for which she had been successfully operated on.
