Fire shortages, Hotel Miramonti in Cortina must close

2023-01-20T17:04:01.081Z

The "Miramonti" hotel in Cortina d'Ampezzo (Belluno) will have to provide different accommodation for its guests within two days, and inform customers who should have arrived in the next few days that it will be impossible to welcome them. (HANDLE)

It was still open, and full of guests, but within two days the historic "Miramonti" hotel in Cortina d'Ampezzo (Belluno) will have to shut down its business,

and above all find alternative accommodation for around 200 guests.

Reason: the license was suspended by order of the mayor, Gianluca Lorenzi, after a series of checks which revealed the insufficiency of the fire regulations of the hotel structure.

The management of the 'Miramonti Majestic Grand Hotel' was also invited to inform customers expected in the coming days of the impossibility of welcoming them.

A bad blow for what is known as the hotel of the 'Dolce Vita' in Cortina, with VIP guests from show business and cinema: it comes just on the first weekend that sees the women's ski World Cup races taking place.

The ordinance was notified this morning directly by the mayor and by the municipal police.

The deed was ordered on the basis of a note from the Prefecture of Belluno dated 17 January, which in turn refers to a report from the Provincial Command of the Fire Brigade, which on 3 January had carried out an inspection on the fire prevention measures , from which the safety deficiencies had emerged.

The municipal document also reports how the hotel managers - the Ditta Magazzini Zanchetta - had been made aware of the deficiencies reported since last September 26, which should have been remedied with the obligation of "permanence of non-exercise of the 'activities', i.e. keeping the hotel closed to tourists.

"This prescription - reads the report of the Fire Brigade after the last inspection - has not been observed".

Hence the order to close the structure and clear it of the occupants, customers and staff, for which a technical term of two days was given, in order to be able to find alternative accommodations and block the expected arrivals, and above all bring the the Miramonti.

"We will ask the Prefect as soon as possible to convene a meeting to discuss the matter - reported Lorenzi - because the city cannot afford to see an accommodation facility of this size kept closed".

Miramonti Majestic Grand Hotel was built in the early 1900s, and has always been a venue for holidays, business meetings, culture and shows.

It is located one and a half kilometers from the center of Cortina and is clearly visible from every point of the Ampezzo valley.
