He started his fashion house in 1966.
He used unusual materials such as metal, paper and plastic for his designs.
Coco Chanel renamed her colleague "the metalworker of fashion".
He was the first designer ever to use music in his fashion shows.
He has also worked in the cinema: his, for example, are the stage costumes for Barbarella.
