Airbnb is offering free temporary accommodation to people displaced by last week's earthquakes in Turkey and Syria as well as aid workers.
The company, which helped refugees fleeing Afghanistan in 2021 and Ukraine in 2022, said it will use its network of nonprofits to find housing, as well as a voucher system for those renting their homes to tourists.
Stays will be coordinated by Airbnb's nonprofit partners and funded by the company and its website donors.
"Survivors and first responders are in urgent need of temporary housing," the company said
.
Airbnb will help pay for the accommodations, but at the same time invite donations from the public.
The hope is that we can reach a total of 5 million dollars.
