“Smoke development in the Hauptbahnhof underground station” was the alarm keyword that triggered a large contingent of the Munich fire brigade on Tuesday morning.

More details about the incident are now known.

According to a press release from the Munich fire department, a subway driver noticed smoke.

She then informed her control center.

The alarmed emergency services also smelled a burning smell on site, but there was not much smoke.

When checking the alleged damaging train, the fire brigade also came across the probable cause of the alarm - a defective electrical component.

Since there was no further danger from the subway, the approximately 60 firefighters who had been alerted were then able to end their mission.

The train was handed over to the technicians of the Munich transport company.

Since the subway driver had inhaled the smoke, she was examined by the emergency services staff.

She then came to a Munich clinic for further checks.

According to the fire department, it is currently unclear how high the damage is.

As a spokesman for the Munich fire brigade reports when asked, a driver of a U5 has reported a fire.

As a result, a large contingent of the fire brigade arrived at the main station and rushed to the entrance to the U5.
