Two skeletons found having a tea party at the bottom of a lake (La Paz County Sheriff)
Police officers who responded to a call about finding "human bones" were embarrassed to discover that it was a crime scene that actually included a fake pirate skeleton.
The person who called the police was a gardener who thought he had come across a rotting human body while digging in a house in Long Eaton, near the city of Derby in England.
It was reported in the local media that a short time later the police arrived at the scene and examined the skeleton.
They immediately suspected something was wrong after noticing a strange hook attached to his arm instead of a palm, as well as a parrot skeleton resting on the human skeleton's left shoulder.
"Our station officers were called today to a suspicious incident following a report of human bones being found," they described in a Facebook post detailing the case along with a photo of the find.
Admit it looks scary
The police realized after examining the "crime scene" that it was a toy of "Captain Hook", the villain of the "Peter Pan" books and movies, together with his pet.
Since the call was made in "good faith" - and not as a prank - the police officers "left the toy in place so that the owners of the house can get rid of it".
They also said that they do not regret coming to the fake crime scene.
"It is always better to be safe than sorry and it is mandatory to report any suspicious incident," they announced in a Facebook post.
