The IDF's Manpower Division published on Tuesday the list of reserve units that will receive grants as combatants, including a number of units that were not originally recognized as combatants and were outraged by this. Among other things, the regional defense battalions were recognized, alongside the Balnam unit, the Lutter School, rescue battalions and more.

Last week, Israel Hayom reported that the fighters of the regional defense battalions are furious that they are not defined as combatants but as rear units, despite the fact that these units operate, among other things, deep in Judea and Samaria, in complex areas and under threat. There were also a number of other units, such as the Administrative Assistance Units (PRSAM), which operate in Gaza, among other places, and who were not recognized as combatants and were angry about this.

Following the many requests, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich acted to change the definitions so that the units would be defined as combatants. Already in real time, those around him made it clear that he was making every effort to reach an agreement, and now the official announcement was received that the units would be recognized as combat units and not rear units.

These units join units that have already been defined in the past as combat units.
