BRUNICO - Two exhibitions, a personal exhibition, a cycle of concerts and a gastronomic review: these are the summer events that the innovative museum dedicated to mountain photography and the promotion of the territory, the Lumen of Plan de Corones, organizes up to October 11th.
Reachable with the gondola lift that climbs up to its 2,275 meters between the Val Pusteria and the Val di Marebbe, in South Tyrol, the museum was born as a cultural experiment in continuous evolution that embraces the world of art and gastronomy.
This summer, the permanent sections of the Lumen host two new photographic exhibitions - "Peru" and "Mexico" - in collaboration with National Geographic, with overseas shots that touch the Peruvian Andes and South America. The first exhibition includes the images of photographers Louis Armando Vega, Musuk Nolte, Nicolas Villaume and Victor Zea and exposes themes ranging from one of the largest pilgrimages on the Andes in Peru to cultural and social issues, climate change and documentary photography. The second exhibition, "Mexico", collects the images taken by Ricardo Azarcoya and tells of incredible pristine places on the border with Antarctica, between Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. Lumen also hosts the solo exhibition of Sissa Micheli "Mountain pieces. Reflecting History", which reports between the territories of South Tyrol: the artist of South Tyrolean origin deals with the theme of war and peace by comparing the beauty of the mountains and the past war. The photographs, which portray some war scenarios of the Alta Pusteria and include still life elements such as flags, smoke bombs and reflective surfaces, represent a conceptual art, made of symbols.
In these weeks Lumen is transformed into a place of dialogue, where photography meets music, theater and cuisine: on August 22 it hosts a matinee by the Haydn Orchestra, while on September 23 it offers an evening concert dedicated to the opera "A little night music" by Mozart. On August 7, the Kronplatz by Night event allows you to go up to Plan de Corones from 18 to 23, visit the Lumen and the Messner Mountain Museen and book your table in the restaurants and huts in the area for a unique evening at high altitude . Finally from 18th to 19th and from 25th to 26th September at the AlpiNN-Food & Space Restaurant, the panoramic restaurant of the museum wanted by the starred chef Norbert Niederkofler, Care's takes place, the famous international chef review that promotes an ethical and sustainable approach to cooking and its link with the territory.
This year is titled "The nature around you" and faces new ways to take care of the environment.
