(ANSA) - PARIS, AUGUST 11 - Dozens of people were lightly injured last night due to an uncontrolled movement of the crowd on the famous Croisette in Cannes, on the Costaazzurra, after false rumors of a shooting spread.
Rescuers said 44 people were injured and had to seek hospital treatment, mostly for bruises and minor trauma or leg injuries. The false rumor of an ongoing shooting resulted in a general runaway, as evidenced by dozens of videos, some of them quite impressive, that were put online last night.
On Twitter, Mayor David Lisnard posted a warning: "The crowd movement was provoked by unfounded rumors. The situation is under control. Please do not be the bearers of false information." (HANDLE).
