Also in October, FCA sold 70,172 cars in Western Europe (EU plus EFTA plus UK), 3.2% more than in the same month in 2019. The share rises from 5.6% to 6.2%.

In the ten months the group registered 560,202 cars, equal to a decrease of 30.8% with the share going from 6.1% to 5.8%.

In October, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles grew in Italy - + 12.5% in a market that was losing 0.2% - but also in Germany where it recorded + 12.8% while the market lost 3.6% overall. .

As far as brands are concerned, the results of Jeep and Fiat are especially positive.

Jeep registers almost 12,300 cars, with a growth of 6.7%, and reaches a share of 1.1%, +0.2 percentage points compared to October 2019. Fiat in the month recorded almost 49,500 cars (+ 5.5% ) and obtained a share of 4.4% (+ 0.5%).

Lancia with more than 4,700 registrations, has a share of 0.4% and Alfa Romeo with over 3,400 has a share of 0.3%.

The excellent performances of the Panda and 500 continue, which continue to dominate segment A, the one that lost the most due to the pandemic, with sales down by 39.4% over the year, compared to -27.3% total.

Thanks also to the new hybrid versions, the two Fiat models achieved excellent results in Europe, confirming themselves as the best-selling in the category.

With over 19,400 registrations (+ 31.5%), the Panda obtains a share of 23.1% (+ 6.9%), while there are approximately 14,000 registrations of 500 (+ 5.4%) equal to 16.6% share (+ 2.1%).

Jeep Compass and Renegade 4xe plug-in hybrids are also growing and are rapidly increasing their sales volumes a few months after launch.

After the first growth of the year last September (+ 1.1%), car registrations in Western Europe in October are back in the red with a decline of 7.1% on October 2019, much heavier in the first ten months of the year (-27.3%).

In October, of the 31 national markets in the area, only four are growing and these are small or very small markets: Norway (+ 23.6%), Romania (+ 17.6%), Iceland (+ 12%) and Ireland ( + 5.4%).

Among the other 27 markets, the least negative result was that of Italy, which in October suffered a contained decline of 0.2% due to the residual boost from incentives for traditionally fueled cars.

The final balance of the first ten months, however, is particularly heavy for our country (-30.9%).

It is the analysis of the Promotor Study Center.

For the president Gian Primo Quagliano for Italy "the forecasts for the last part of 2020 and for 2021 can only be catastrophic. It is therefore essential that Parliament comes with a proposal for a package for the car to be included in the Budget Law and that is adequate to the importance of the sector which is worth 12% of GDP ".

Among the five largest countries in Western Europe - explains the Csp - only Spain is worse than Italy (-36.8%), while the decline in the United Kingdom is almost the same as Italy (-31%) and the best are instead the situations of France (-26.9%) and Germany (-23.4%).

"It is easy to predict that the return of the virus will lead to new collapses starting from November, temperate, but only in part, in countries with effective incentive systems and with adequate funding", underlines the Centro Studi Promotor.
