When the police tried to bring a 24-year-old man to the station on Monday, he lost consciousness and later died in the hospital, the police and prosecutors said.
The police were called on Monday because of an argument between two men.
According to the report, the 24-year-old offered considerable resistance to the identification and behaved "psychologically abnormal", so the officers wanted to bring him to the station.
He suddenly lost consciousness.
The young man was taken to a hospital in an ambulance, where he died on Monday evening.
Because there was evidence that the man might have been drugged, his blood was drawn.
An autopsy was also ordered.
For reasons of neutrality, the Duisburg police took over the investigation.
