From the home of a wealthy family to the museum: in this way the clothes and objects that tell the elegance of the Italian bourgeoisie become an exhibition at the Textile Museum in Prato, until 29 May.
With the title 'Novecento Elegant.
Clothes and accessories from the Fineschi 'donation offers a selection of over 80 objects including clothes and accessories, all of which belonged to the Fineschi family from Prato, who recently donated them to the Textile Museum Foundation.
The collection has a total of 160 items and is the result of the collection work of Ada Tirinnanzi Fineschi, wife of Antonio Fineschi, who
for decades has preserved and cataloged the family's clothes and accessories, creating a sort of domestic museum as the result of her passion for the history of costume.
From there the same organization of the exhibition takes its cue, curated by Daniela Degl'Innocenti, which proceeds by thematic and chronological strands, retracing the history of the donor family, which travels in parallel with that of fashion and the city.
Alongside about thirty dresses - children's clothes, night dresses, day suits and evening dresses - there are also everyday items, luxury accessories and toys.
In Prato, the Fineschi family has an entrepreneurial history that spans over a century and is distinguished by commercial activities in the city, from the historic pasta factory founded in 1826 to the car trade in a more recent phase.
