was able to try out a prototype of the Spectacles, a pair of augmented reality (AR) glasses designed by Snap, the parent company of the Snapchat social network.
These are not intended for sale.
The work is still very far from finished.
The field of vision in augmented reality is extremely reduced, the glasses tend to overheat quickly and their battery drains in twenty minutes.
“It will take five to ten years before this product is viable. The technical challenges are significant
, underlines Qi Pan, director of engineering at Snap.
But we believe that this type of glasses will be the future of connected screens.
And Snap aims to be the leading augmented reality platform.”
