On the way back from an open-air discotheque near Bad Doberan in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, a young man drove his car into a group of pedestrians.

Three men and one woman were seriously injured, according to a police spokeswoman in Rostock.

An emergency doctor described the woman and one of the men as “severely injured”.

However, there was no more detailed information on this.

A woman was also slightly injured and was able to walk again after outpatient treatment.

The 19-year-old driver from Rostock is now being investigated on suspicion of negligent bodily harm.

The police spokeswoman said the exact circumstances of the incident are still under investigation.

The incident came after an "XXL foam party" on the grounds of an old racetrack was over early Sunday morning.

Most participants walked along a narrow street to their cars or other means of transport to get home.

The 19-year-old drove his car into the group.

According to current knowledge, he should have been alone in the car.

Witnesses immediately alerted the emergency services and the police.

"According to the information available, it is clearly an accident," said the spokeswoman.

An expert from Dekra is to examine the incident more closely on behalf of the public prosecutor.
