A police spokesman said four others were seriously injured on Saturday night.
The wrong-way driver's car collided head-on with another car on federal highway 85 near the district town of Cham.
As the "Mittelbayerische Zeitung" reports, the injured were transported to the surrounding clinics in Regensburg, Schwandorf, Straubing and Cham.
The roadway at the scene of the accident has two lanes in each direction.
The road was closed in the evening due to salvage and rescue work.
