(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 22 - The IFPI, the organization that represents the recording industry in the world, has chosen TaylorSwift as the winner of the Global Recording Artist 2022 award: it is the third time for the American superstar, a record in the history of award, which covers the entire body of work and is calculated based on worldwide performance throughout the year across digital and physical music formats, from streams to vinyl.


    In the past Taylor Swift has been a regular on the IFPI Global Artist Chart, first in 2014 and 2019, second in 2021 behind BTS and Top 10 in the years of 2015, 2017 and 2020. Her latest album Midnights will be released in October


   2022 determined its return to the top of the chart.


    The rest of the podium sees BTS second (this is their third consecutive year in the Top 3, after wins in 2020 and 2021) and Drake in third position with his fifth appearance in the Top 3 since the beginning of the rankings.


    Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny is in fourth place: he is the first Latin American artist to enter the Top 5 and is the highest position ever achieved by an artist who performs predominantly in Spanish.

Ranked ninth, Jay Chou became the first Taiwanese artist to appear on the chart due to his solid popularity in China and Southeast Asia.

And it was also an impressive year for the South Korean scene, with more artists of any other nationality appearing in the Top 10 for the first time ever: BTS were in fact joined by SEVENTEEN and Stray Kids, in sixth and seventh place respectively.
