Solo parents, this dating app is for you

Highlights: Even, a new dating application aimed at single parents, was launched in March. Single parents often struggle to find their soul mate because of their parenting responsibilities. The application can also provide advice to those who wish to renew a romantic relationship or regain confidence in themselves after a breakup. Nearly half of solo parents prefer, not surprisingly, the afternoon or lunch break to organize a first date, says Noö Family's Marina Rossi, founder of the coaching platform Noö family. The new Even application, like Stir, launched at the end of March by Match Group.

In the large market of seduction, raising a child alone is not always an asset. For this growing audience, Meetic l

"More than parents" is the slogan of Even, the little sister of the famous dating application Meetic. This latest born in the large online love market is primarily aimed at single parents, in full expansion because, let us remember, single-parent families now represent one in four families in our country, or some two million people.

However, whether they are men or women, whether they are just in their thirties or forties, with children in alternate or exclusive custody at home, solo parents often struggle to find their soul mate. In addition to the fact that they lack time and have a daily life (and sometimes an age) that offers them little space and opportunities to meet spontaneously, they also find themselves facing difficulties when they register on dating applications.

A fairly precise questionnaire upon registration

"In six out of ten cases, those who are registered are ghosted when they say they have children," says Thierry Lalande, CEO of Ipsos Digital, who translates, not without humor, for neophytes: "it means that they take a digital wind! " Their parenting responsibilities can intimidate their interlocutors who do not feel the soul or stature to become a step-parent and fear their lack of availability. They end up, a bit cowardly and completely rude, by simply stopping responding to their messages rather than confiding their fears to them in writing.

The new Even application, like Stir, launched at the end of March by Match Group (which brings together Tinder, OK Cupid or Meetic), therefore proposes to make life easier for these single parents by offering them a "benevolent universe", insists Marion Graff, its spokeswoman.

Concretely, what is the difference between Even and a classic dating application? On Even, upon registration, the user will have to answer a fairly precise questionnaire where he will indicate the number of children, their age but also his availability, his mode of care, his expectations (if he feels ready, for example, to have other children). They will also need to provide at least two profile pictures. Note that a free mode allows you to consult up to 100 profiles per day. To be able to benefit from an unlimited offer, a subscription will be required, and will cost at least 6.70 euros per month (for a period of six months).

To regain confidence

So many arguments likely to seduce fathers and single mothers looking for a new relationship. "For now, apart from mentioning in her short biography that we have children, it was difficult to introduce the subject," says Marie, 39, a solo mother of an 8-year-old and herself a user of the apps. "Even might interest me because at my age, it's hard to find opportunities to meet new people. People have already started their families and sometimes, I'm not even invited to couples' parties because a single person is scary! ", she says, confessing unvarnished her difficulties to find love.

The application can also provide, for those who wish, advice to those who wish to renew a romantic relationship or regain confidence in themselves after a breakup. "When you are a parent, you may tend to think too much about children and focus the meeting on the potential future role of the partner by wondering if it would also be suitable for children. However, we must give time to do things, "advises Marina Rossi, former solo mom and founder of the coaching platform Noö Family.

Notable detail, singles without children can also of course register on this application. They are just warned. Let it be said: nearly half of solo parents prefer, not surprisingly, the afternoon or lunch break to organize a first date.
