During the attack in Tel Aviv earlier this month, Hamas spokesman in Gaza, Hazem Qassem, was interviewed by the Lebanese Al-Mayadin network, and attacked the Turkish embassy's decision to condemn the attack.

But something went wrong for Hamas along the way.
The organization's spokesman's statement against Turkish condemnation came in response to something else that had happened in recent months: Some Hamas members who were in Turkey found themselves "deported."

A Palestinian source told Israel Today that "this is the deportation of dozens of people who are identified with Hamas in such and such circles."
The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar confirmed this version in a report published yesterday, according to which Turkey did not allow some Hamas members to return to its territory.
According to the source, it is not just a matter of preventing random entry.
"Turkey has demanded that they leave, and this has actually happened in the last two months. Some of the people associated with Hamas' military wing have been expelled."
According to him, Israel was involved in driving the move.
"The Israelis sent Turkey a list of Hamas members, and information about the involvement of some of them in military activity. In response, the Turks turned to Hamas and told them: 'You promised not to do such things with us, but now you have to leave.'
"The Turks have told the Hamas leadership that they have economic interests. The renewed connection between Turkey and Israel is supposedly political, but Hamas knows that Israel has influence over Turkey in security matters. Some Israeli security representatives have also visited Turkey."
First Israeli achievement
Hamas understands that the rapprochement is affecting the way it can operate in Turkey.
After all, Hamas has gained a free hand in the country in recent years.
However, it is too early to talk about a crisis.
Tensions exist, but Hamas is careful not to close the door on Erdogan, who condemned "Israeli actions in Jerusalem."
