The next club hit? Singer and icon Dana International is releasing a new song this morning (Wednesday) in collaboration with DJ Itai Glo ("Moabat", "Bell") called "BIG D*** ENERGY".
The song was written by Maya Simentov who also composed together with Glo and Omer Inbar, with the latter two also signed on to the arrangement. According to the musicians, the work on the song took about a year, and part of it was revealed in the series "Dana Kama". Similar to its title, the song gets a music video loaded with phallic symbols, signed by Avoxvision.
Even before its release, Dana International was selected by the streaming service Spotify as one of the three gay artists of the year, and the song was chosen to open the international Pride playlist released as part of Spotify GLOW - through which the service promotes LGBTQ content and creators from the LGBTQ community. In addition, the singer's picture will appear as the playlist image - the first Israeli to be honored - as well as on billboards and on the New York City subway.
"We turned to Maya Simentov to write words. We wanted to sing something from my gut, something that really connects with me and what I'm going through," International said. "Itai's production is tailored to the song and the atmosphere and I feel that together we managed to bring my uniqueness as an artist, which I am quite proud of. When my friends from Universal told us that Spotify had chosen this song to be at the top of the World Pride playlist, it made me very happy. I hope that the new song will also be liked in Israel and that this summer it will be on the playlist of all the parties. Not because of me, because of Itai's magic touch, working with him was a great pleasure."
