A despicable act. A 25-year-old teaching assistant filmed himself sexually abusing a baby before sharing the footage with other paedophiles online, according to Wales Online. It was thanks to Instagram that the Welsh police were able to trace Tommy Allington and search his home where they found a phone hidden in his attic. On it, the young man had more than 1,500 images of child victims of sexual abuse, including 252 showing the most extreme forms of child sexual abuse.

Police also came across photos and videos of him sexually abusing a baby repeatedly, before discovering that he was bragging and sharing his actions online on pedophile rings. Prosecutor Robin Rouch said police searched the accused's home in Swansea, Wales, last April after receiving information that child pornography images were being uploaded to an Instagram account linked to the accused.

Law enforcement officials also discovered that Tommy Allington was sharing his photos and videos with other pedophiles on Telegram, under the name Angelboy, and discussing the benefits of abusing babies because they are unable to say anything or talk to anyone about the abuse they are subjected to. By viewing these videos, the police were able to identify the baby and contact his parents.

A sentence considered not very severe

They described to the court the devastating impact of these assaults and their concern about the consequences that these acts will have on their little boy in the future. The father said he no longer trusts anyone and recounts how his young son sometimes goes into a "trance", while the mother said his world has "fallen apart" and his family is destroyed.

After pleading guilty to 17 counts of child rape, sexual assault, incitement to sexual activity, possession of child pornography images or dissemination of prohibited images, the young man with a criminal record still clean before this story was sentenced to 24 years and eight months in prison, including 18 years and eight months in detention, followed by an extended probation period of six years.

A judge at Swansea Crown Court said she was concerned about the risk he would continue to pose once released from prison. Tommy Allington will be listed as a sex offender for the rest of his life and has been the subject of an indeterminate sexual harm prevention order.

"This will undoubtedly be difficult news for the local community, but rest assured that our teams and partners have protected and supported everyone involved in the investigation. The victim's family has shown incredible strength and courage throughout this case," said South Wales Police Detective Amanda Jerkins.
