Tech news for Škoda Auto, which has announced the integration of the chatbot, based on the artificial intelligence ChatGPT, into its voice assistant Laura.
The decision was made with the aim of improving the experience on board the vehicle and simplifying the daily driving experience. Benefiting from this new feature will be Škoda models based on the Meb Gp and Mqb Evo platforms, which will be able to access a vast artificial intelligence database and will be able to read content while driving. This new feature will be powered by Cerence Chat Pro from technology partner Cerence Inc., which offers automotive-grade ChatGPT integration.
Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto, said: "The enrichment of Škoda's voice assistance with artificial intelligence makes our cars even better companions in everyday life, where drivers and passengers will have easy and fully voice-controlled access to boundless knowledge while on the road."
From mid-2024, the new chatbot will be offered alongside the latest generation infotainment systems on select versions of the Škoda Enyaq, the new Škoda Superb and Kodiaq and the Škoda Octavia facelift.
Already today, the Škoda voice assistant can be used to control infotainment, navigation and air conditioning or answer general knowledge questions. In the future, AI support will provide additional insights in response to complex questions and with ever-growing capabilities. The operation, however, will remain extremely simple. The voice assistant will be activated by saying 'Okay, Laura' or pressing the dedicated button on the multi-function steering wheel. If the request cannot be fulfilled directly by the Škoda system, it will be forwarded anonymously to artificial intelligence. ChatGPT will therefore not be able to access vehicle data or personal information, which will remain protected.
