Terrible discovery near Nantes on Monday evening. The bodies of a 64-year-old man and his 28-year-old disabled daughter were found in the garage of their home in Saint-Herblain (Loire-Atlantique). The father allegedly strangled his daughter before killing himself, according to the regional daily press.
It was the victim's sister who alerted the emergency services when she discovered the two bodies on her way back to the family home, Ouest-France reports.
The two bodies were in the garage, behind two cars. The father's body had a plastic thread around his neck. Her daughter's had been covered with a blanket and a stuffed animal had been placed next to her. The young woman was allegedly strangled with a flex clamp, according to a police source.

The man is said to have lost his wife a few weeks ago, from which he suffered terribly. He is said to have picked up his daughter, who suffers from a mental disability, in her home before committing his act. After her suicide, the man reportedly did not want the young woman to be dependent on her two other children. He explains this in a letter left behind and found by investigators. In this text, according to France Bleu, the man would evoke an "act of courage".
An investigation, entrusted to the judicial police, is to determine the exact circumstances of what appears to be a homicide followed by suicide.
