A teacher at a college in Gironde was hit in the face by a student and was prescribed a seven-day ITT, we learned Thursday from a union source who denounces a “very degraded climate” in the school. 'establishment.
The incident, confirmed by the administration, occurred Monday in Arveyres.
“Two students tried to enter the classroom where the teacher was giving lessons, before being chased out.
One of the two came back 40 minutes later and punched the professor,” Charlotte Laizet, departmental co-secretary of Snes-FSU, told AFP.
According to Marie-Christine Hébrard, academic director of national education services in Gironde, the teenager was in third grade in college but not in the class of the teacher he attacked, and had no prior record.

“He asked to attend his class because these are practices that are sometimes followed in this establishment, but the teacher refused and asked him to leave his class.
At the end of the lesson, the students left and the young boy came back to hit the teacher in the face,” according to Marie-Christine Hébrard.
The professor was prescribed seven days of ITT (total incapacity for work).
“He has a swollen jaw, earache and is above all very psychologically shocked,” underlined Charlotte Laizet.
According to the union leader, this incident occurs “in a very degraded school climate” after the attack in September on a nurse and with “a head of school who does not support the teachers, who are suffering”.
After Monday's attack, "no psychological unit was opened" and teachers are not aware of any information concerning a possible disciplinary council for the student in question, deplores Charlotte Laizet.
Marie-Christine Hébrard told AFP that the teenager would go before the disciplinary committee on February 1 and that he is until then subject to a precautionary measure which prohibits him from accessing the establishment.
“I will go there tomorrow (Friday, Editor’s note) to offer a listening cell.
We had put in place exactly the same provisions in September,” defended the academic director who “strongly condemns all acts of violence” and stands “alongside the educational staff”.
