“Why go to all this trouble to do us this harm?

» At the Grenoble court, a father still wonders how his neighbor got there.

On the dock is his former neighbor, an initially discreet man, prosecuted for “noise attacks”, reveals the Dauphiné Libéré.

If this 44-year-old man finds himself facing the judge at the Grenoble criminal court, it is because he made life difficult for around ten neighbors for many months in a residence located in the town of Saint-Égrève ( Isère), a town located a few kilometers north of Grenoble.

In his T3, this school life assistant decided to place his blender, his mixer, his vacuum cleaner or even speakers against one of his party walls, all connected to programmable sockets to turn his devices on at night and revenge on his neighbors.

The reason ?

He has long “perceived himself as a victim of [his] neighbors”.

Revenge against his neighbors

Quiet for around ten years in this building mainly occupied by elderly people, he saw the trend reverse over time and was “increasingly disturbed early in the morning, in the evening, on weekends” .

Feeling targeted by his neighbors, he then decided to carry out a “counter-attack” by turning on his devices while he went to sleep on his own in a garage that he rented, converted into a bedroom, specifies the regional daily .

“He makes noise at all hours of the day and night.

He puts vibrators that he sticks to the wall, vacuums at 11 p.m.

He bangs on the walls, the radio is loud, he plays the tom-tom at odd hours,” a neighbor explained to the police.

“We haven't done anything exceptional, we just have children who are crying,” says another on the stand, surprised to see the defendant put in “so much money and ingenuity”.

“The slightest noise that doesn’t come from me disturbs me”

The man even went so far as to record the crying of his neighbors' children to rebroadcast them on his speakers during the night.

“That’s vice.

We have seen some annoying neighbors, but for you, it’s high-level,” says prosecutor Éric Vaillant, who assures that he has never seen such a file.

“When I'm at home, I need calm.

The slightest noise that does not emanate from me disturbs me”, justifies the man whose psychiatric expertise underlines “family loneliness”, “total friendly and emotional isolation” and reveals “traits of persecution”.

“He is a man who is suffering.

He sees his neighbors living a life of joy and he realizes that this life is not accessible to him,” retorts Me Grégoire de Petiville, one of the defendant’s lawyers.

Found guilty of the offense of noise attacks, he was sentenced to four months in prison with a probationary suspension prohibiting him from going to the street where he lived.
