Highlights: As expected: NTA CEO Haim Glick resigned after the completion of the red line - voila! vehicle. Glick (68) had no experience in the fields of transportation when he was appointed in 2019 as Yehuda Bar-On's replacement. He previously served as deputy service commissioner at the prisons, CEO of Bar Ilan University and CEO of Rishon Lezion Municipality. Minister of Transportation Miri Regev announced she would transfer responsibility to the Gush Dan Metro from the NTA because of the delays and overruns.

After the great delay in the launch of the light rail, also due to the fault of his predecessors, and after pressure from Miri Regev, Glick will leave the position. He recently admitted, as revealed in Vala, that the metro will not be launched on time either

The estimates that Haim Glick, CEO of NTA, would leave after the launch of the red line of the light rail in the center came true this morning, when Glick informed the company's board of directors of his termination after 4.5 years.

Glick (68) had no experience in the fields of transportation when he was appointed in 2019 as Yehuda Bar-On's replacement, having previously served as deputy service commissioner at the prisons, CEO of Bar Ilan University and CEO of Rishon Lezion Municipality.

During his time, the opening date of the red line from Petah Tikva to Bat Yam was moved from 2021 to 2022 and finally to August 2023, and the schedule of the green and purple lines was also postponed.

Minister of Transportation Miri Regev announced that she would transfer responsibility to the Gush Dan Metro from the NTA because of the delays and overruns in the schedules, but a large part of these resulted from the decisions of the company's previous management, such as the purchase of the trains, the operating and safety systems from three different suppliers. Regev finally relented, and NTA remained responsible for the metro, because some of the work was transferred to the responsibility of Netibi Israel.

As revealed in Vale Car, in a lecture to students at the Technion, Glick admitted that the first phase of the metro will only start operating in 2040, six years after the current official date of 2034. This phase includes operation between Gillot south of Tel Aviv, the Rishonim station in Rishon Lezion, Israel and Kiryat Ono. The second phase will only be activated in 2050, a delay of 13 years from the current date. This phase includes the full operation of the M1 line of the metro, as far as Rehovot, Ramla and Lod in the south of Gush Dan and as far as Herzliya, Ra'anana and Hod Hasharon, including a direct link between the Valley Ono to Ramat Hay'il,

Ramat Hasharon and Gilolit. Glick also admitted that the following lines will not be opened on time either. The purple line, from Yehud Monoson, Or Yehuda and Givat Shmuel to central Tel Aviv will only open in March 2028 and the green line from Holon and Rasheltz to Herzliya only a year later, in March 2029. NTA still promises on its website the opening of the lines in 2028 and 2027, respectively.

"I have been privileged in my decades of professional activity to be a partner in building this country, in maintaining its values in its development and prosperity, with the personal and public peak, without a doubt, being the successful opening of the Red Line in Gush Dan, and now I feel that the time has come for a change of shifts," Glick wrote in his retirement announcement.

"I am finishing more than four and a half years of challenging activity in the NTA, which brought and will bring even more in the future, to the transportation revolution that is so necessary in Gush Dan, to a transformation in the utilization of the time of the citizens of the country that is wasted in traffic jams, and in the promotion of equality between all sections of the population."

Chairman of the NTA, Attorney Mia Lakvarnik said that "I accepted with regret the decision of the CEO of the company to terminate his position, but I respect his request along with my fellow members of the board of directors.

Haim's vigorous activity, with hundreds of dedicated company employees, led to impressive achievements on every scale, chief among them the commercial opening of one of the complex projects built in Israel, the Red Line.

The company under his leadership grew and developed and qualified itself to bear the challenging burden of continuing the successful operation of the Red Line, completing the two Rak'el lines and building three metro lines at a total cost of over NIS 200 billion."

Miri Regev will now be able to appoint to the position of CEO she chooses, unless elections are announced and senior appointments stopped.
