Top 10 new registrations: Germans’ most popular electric cars in 2023

Highlights: More than half a million electric cars were newly registered in Germany for the first time in 2023. Five German models made it into the electric car top 10 for 2023, but the US manufacturer Tesla was also represented twice. In our picture gallery we show the ten electric cars with the most new registrations. Top 10 new registrations: Germans’ most popular electric cars in 20 23. According to KBA, more than half a million electric cars were newly registered in Germany for the first time in 2023.

1 / 1010th place - Mini Cooper E/SE: 13,953 new registrations in 2023 were enough for Mini to move into the Stromer top 10.

The Cooper E/SE secured tenth place in the annual ranking.

2 / 109th place – BMW iX1: The fully electric version of the BMW X1 was registered 14,694 times last year.

3 / 108th place – Tesla Model 3: The US manufacturer Tesla secured eighth place in the ranking with its Model 3.

According to KBA, the Stromer had 15,865 new registrations in Germany in 2023.

5 / 106th place - Audi Q4 e-tron: According to KBA, the Audi Q4 e-tron had 18,061 new registrations in 2023.

The Ingolstadt resident thus reached sixth place in the ranking.

As in 2022, the Model Y was able to secure the top spot in terms of new registrations (45,818) in Germany in 2023.

When it comes to electric cars, there is once again a record to report: For the first time, more than half a million electric vehicles were newly registered in Germany.

According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), there were exactly 524,219 BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles) in 2023 - significantly more than the year before (470,559).

Five German models made it into the electric car top 10 for 2023, but the US manufacturer Tesla was also represented twice.
