Highlights: SpaceIL association performed a successful abort experiment simulating the landing of "Bereshit 2" on the surface of the moon. The experiment was carried out using a spacecraft model that simulates the weight and the real center of gravity when landing. The Genesis 2 mission is planned to create international and ground-breaking achievements in the field of deep space, including a double landing on the moon in one mission, using two landers, each of which will land on a different side of the Moon.

The SpaceIL association continues to promote the Genesis 2 mission, the launch of the second Israeli spacecraft to the moon, and as part of the work plan, performed an experiment simulating a landing on the moon.

The experiment was carried out using a spacecraft model that simulates the weight and the real center of gravity when landing on the moon and simulates a landing that includes a free fall from a height of 5 meters above the surface of the landing surface on the moon, while referring to the fact that the force of gravity on the moon is about one-sixth of the force of gravity on Earth.

As part of the experiment, the spacecraft was dropped from a number of different heights while testing the reaction of the landing legs and examining the behavior of the energy absorption mechanism upon impact with the ground.

The landing gear system of the landing gear functioned as planned to absorb the landing loads at all heights and altitudes, while maintaining their structural integrity.

"The Genesis 2 mission is planned to create international and ground-breaking achievements in the field of deep space, including a double landing on the moon in one mission, using two landers, each of which will land on a different side of the moon," said SpaceIL.

In addition to the two landings, the mother spacecraft is planned to circle the moon in a long-term mission of about 5 years and will be a platform for interactive scientific educational activities in Israel and around the world, through remote connection.

According to Shimon Sharid, CEO of the SpaceIL association: "The successful experiment we carried out is an important milestone in the proof of the engineering design of the Genesis 2 landing on the moon.

Especially these days, when Israeli society is facing particularly complex challenges, we continue to do everything in order to continue marching the State of Israel forward and develop new capabilities and national pride in the field of space."
