Not just cars for the Renault stand at the 48th edition of Rétromobile, scheduled at the Parc des Expositions of Porte de Versailles, in Paris, from Wednesday 31 January to Sunday 4 February.

To accompany the launch of the Rafale E-Tech Full Hybrid, also present on the scene, the French company has decided to also exhibit a replica of the Caudron-Renault Rafale C.460 aircraft, the model resulting from the acquisition of the company Caudron aeronautics by Louis Renault, in the 1930s.

The period to which the aircraft model dates back is also the one in which Renault was the first automotive manufacturer to study and produce light engines for the aeronautical sector.

Having launched himself into aerodynamics, Louis Renault had in fact entrusted the task to Marcel Riffard, an aeronautical and automotive engineer who was responsible for the design of the Cudron-Renault Rafale aircraft, as well as several other models.

To celebrate this history, Renault will also present five highly successful racing models at the Paris show such as the 40Cv (1926), with a single-seater body and engine of over 9,000 cm3, the Nervasport (1934), the model that beat nine international records and three world speed records, as well as the Renault-Riffard tank 4Cv (1956), with a bodywork extremely profiled like the wing of an airplane, finishing with the Etoile Filante (1956), an experimental vehicle powered by a 270 hp.

There will also be the Renault Dauphine 'speed week' (2016), created for the 60th anniversary of Renault Etoile Filante's record on the Bonneville salt lake, in the United States, in 1956.
