"We are working on the new Highway Code to reduce deaths and injuries. Speed cameras will have to be approved at a national level and mayors will have to explain why they put them and where and with what motivation".
Infrastructure Minister Matteo Salvini said this in an interview with Gr1.
He added that there is "absolutely nothing wrong" with speed cameras if they are installed "to save lives near schools, hospitals, on roads where there are many accidents. If two-lane highways are multiplied overnight to raise money, they are simply another tax."
