The ultra-Orthodox publicist and jurist Dov Halbertal is once again causing a stir: in a reprehensible post he wrote on the X social network (formerly Twitter) he came out against Kan 11's political reporter, Suleiman Masvada: "There is something outrageous in that the political reporter in Kan, Masvada, a senior reporter, has an Arab accent. In particular, when he pronounces the names of the heads of Hamas. This is at a time when our soldiers are dying and wounded in Gaza, and the same writer has not served the State of Israel for one day. How much more laxity, submission and humiliation will we experience in "Kan"?"
Many journalists reacted to the post with outrage.
"You are a racist and very petty person," wrote Masveda's colleague in Kan 11, the political reporter Michael Shemesh.
Journalist Ben Caspit added: "How much more stupidity, racism, ignorance, rudeness and beastliness will we experience from you? Have you ever heard Avi Dichter say names of Hamasniks? Deeply ashamed to share the same religion with you."
Another Kaan 11 reporter, Yifat Glick, wrote: "There is something outrageous in the fact that you are a racist."
Michal Rabinovitch, presenter of the Kaan 11 edition, was also amazed by Halbertal's racist post: "Shame on you!!! How ignorant and racist!!! Proud to be a friend and colleague of Suleiman Masveda, an outstanding and brave journalist!".
Halbertal continued to write harsh racist words against Masveda, including the following tweet: "No Arab is allowed to broadcast during war. They are all enemies secretly and openly. And you don't care that he has not served in the army or national service and he is a senior broadcaster and soldiers his age are killed and wounded every day. Do not let Arabs broadcast in state media. This is a Jewish minimum."
Hence 11 no response was given to Labartel's words.
