For a group of amateur cyclists in western Italy, a joint ride has come to a fatal end.
As Italian media unanimously reported, a car drove into a column of around 20 cyclists near the city of Grosseto in Tuscany.
According to the police, three cyclists and the driver died in the accident.
Six people were injured, one seriously, according to the Ansa and Adnkronos news agencies.
According to the newspaper "Repubblica", the car hit the group head-on, after the collision it came to a standstill on the side of the road.
The first cyclist in the group apparently managed to avoid the car.
According to the Carabinieri, the apparently elderly driver of the car had lost control of his vehicle, possibly due to health problems.
Some of the injured were taken to nearby clinics by helicopter.
