Recently, the US administration has been caught in a binge of condemnations of Israel, to the point where it seems that the spokesman for the US State Department has decided to start every morning with a condemnation or two against us, in order to jumpstart the day.

Only in recent weeks have we been reprimanded for canceling the racist settlement law and building a permanent yeshiva building in Homesh, for the visit of the minister of national security to the Temple Mount, for the thought of appointing Minister May Golan as consul, and even for a fight between Jewish and Arab youths on the sidelines of the flag parade. At the same time, the administration intervenes in Israel's internal affairs regarding legal reform, conditions visa exemptions on surrender for American citizens of Palestinian descent, and torpedoed legislation to stop foreign aid in subversion of the State of Israel. And of course, President Biden refuses to meet the Israeli prime minister, using this routine meeting as a means of pressure and humiliation.

Meanwhile, no tweet was heard from the State Department or the White House in light of the anti-Semitic incitement speech by the head of the Palestinian Authority at the UN two weeks ago, on what was dubbed Nakba Day. Abu Mazen accused the Jews of lying like Goebbels when they claim to have bloomed the wilderness in "Palestine," he denied that we have history in Jerusalem and on the Temple Mount, he claimed that Israel is an undemocratic apartheid regime, and so on. It turns out that the State Department missed this hate speech, as well as the daily acts of murder and terror perpetrated by Palestinians. Nor does it see Palestinian incitement and terrorism as an "obstacle to peace," in contrast to the yeshiva structure in Homesh, which, of course, is the main problem in the Middle East.

But the hypocrisy and hostility of the Democratic administration took on another dimension this week, when the US spokesman claimed that the repeal of the Disengagement Law "is inconsistent with former Prime Minister Sharon's written commitment to the Bush administration in 2004." It should be noted that Sharon's letter was part of the suicidal displacement process, which was born as a dark independent initiative of the Farm Club, not part of any international agreement. In April 2004, in order to influence the public, Sharon's envoys persuaded the administration to create a kind of exchange of commitment letters.

In front of Sharon's letter, President Bush sent a letter, which was interpreted by Sharon's spinai as American recognition of the eternity of the settlement blocs in the West Bank. It was actually the Democratic American administration, since the Barack Obama era, that denied every deal between the countries and claimed that there were never any commitments. But the facts do not confuse the administration's spokesmen, nor does it have the right of a new government to change policy, as Biden's administration did toward Israel, contrary to the positions of the Trump administration.

Resounding fiasco

It's hard not to get the impression that the onslaught of condemnations is a sign of a loss of advice and direction. Among other things, Washington is now trying to justify their renewed betrayal of us – their renewed courtship of the Iranians. In general, Washington's policy failures are evident on all fronts. Their influence in the Middle East has crumbled, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states are warming relations with China and Iran at the expense of the great United States. The American fiasco reverberates as elections draw nearer.

And the truth is that Washington is now instituting a rather schizophrenic policy towards us as well. Alongside the pressure and condemnations, they are trying to push the Saudis to normalize relations with us, alongside evidence of a flourishing of strategic relations between Washington and Jerusalem. Both the chief of staff and the head of the National Security Council recently claimed that the connection between the two administrations has never been so close.

In the face of American embarrassment and hypocrisy, the conduct of the Israeli government is particularly important. While it's best not to quarrel over trifles and honors, we should stand firm for what really hurts us. Thus, the return to Homesh and the renewed takeover of northern Samaria are more critical than ever, and they should even be confronted. Nor should we imagine additional conferences and promises to the Palestinians, along the lines of what the Netanyahu administration has done recently, in Sharm el-Sheikh and Aqaba. Not to mention blinking on Judea and Samaria in exchange for formal warming of relations with Saudi Arabia or a visit to the White House. Right-wing ministers should also make sure that the prime minister does not pull the rug out from under their feet and gives commitments on these matters without their knowledge and consent, as he has done many times in the past.

And let's not forget that two Republican candidates are heating up on the lines, each of whom, especially Ron DeSantis, will put an end to Democratic hypocrisy and hostility, if elected.

Between Gaza and Homesh

The erection of the permanent building for the Homesh yeshiva and its relocation to state lands is a step whose drama, symbolic and practical, cannot be overstated. Symbolically, because this is the first time since the Camp David Accords, Oslo and the Disengagement, that the trend has reversed. The State of Israel is beginning to roll back offensive acts of folly that seemed irreversible. It regains control of a piece of the Land of Israel and a dramatic element of defense. In recent weeks, under dramatic internal coalition pressure, Netanyahu has been forced to do what he has refused to do since he took part in the decision to displace northern Samaria and Gaza. In the meantime, however, even though the Knesset has repealed the law discriminating against Jews in all areas, by order of the prime minister, an order was issued authorizing only the yeshiva in Homesh, and not the four communities that were displaced in 2005. So there's a lot more to do.

Regarding the operational importance of returning to the area, we will be mentioned this week, with the repeated shooting at the community of Gan Ner in Gilboa from the Jenin area, and of course the murder of Meir Tamari near Hermesh. This is only what reached the press, but in the terror territory we created in northern Samaria, the murder machine does not cease for a moment. Since 2005, since the flight and displacement, a security vacuum has been created in this vast area, which is now clear what it led to. A state of terrorist organizations has been established, which carry out daily acts of shooting and sabotage, work on launching rockets, export terrorism into the Green Line, such as the shooting at the Gilboa communities and the attacks in Tel Aviv. The militias are getting stronger, with Iranian and Hamas push, with the clear aim of bringing about Gazaization and Lebaneseization of Samaria and the entire Judea and Samaria area.

Particularly serious is the increasing involvement of members of the Palestinian "security forces." Those who receive salaries as if they are maintaining security, but do the opposite, are taking a significant part in the thriving terrorist industry. Members of the security forces have become officers by day and terrorists by night, such as the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Fatah's troops, which claimed responsibility this week for the murder of Meir Tamari.

It is now also clear what the difference is between the Jewish-free zone in northern Samaria and any region where dominant Jewish settlement is established, such as in Judea and Binyamin. Since the beginning of Zionism, where there is a presence of Jewish settlements, terrorism has retreated and security is imparted. From where we retreat, such as Gaza and northern Samaria, the enemy develops and strikes. Therefore, the establishment of the yeshiva in Homesh is only a harbinger of the reestablishment of the four displaced communities, a renewed takeover and the draining of the terror swamp of Samaria.
