Flooding in central Somalia caused by a flash flood of a river has displaced some 200,000 people. The swollen Shabelle River in Beledeyene locality in the Hiran region has forced thousands of residents to abandon their homes.

The Horn of Africa is one of the most vulnerable regions to climate change with increasingly frequent and intense crises. In March, torrential rains plunged communities into chaos, destroying or damaging bridges, roads and homes. At least 14 people died in southern Somalia in March.
