Nicolas Ghesquière celebrates 10 years of his creative direction for Louis Vuitton.

In fact, it was precisely March 5, 2014 when Ghesquière made his debut at the helm of the women's division of the French fashion house, with a fashion show at the Cour Carrée of the Louvre: a modern and contemporary approach that immediately pleased the public and critics.

Now, the designer wanted to illuminate the Cour Carrée again to celebrate this journey, designing a collection that reinterprets in a contemporary key the most representative pieces of his decade at the helm of the maison.

In a futuristic set designed by Philippe Parreno in collaboration with James Chinlund, and with the signature of the sound designer Nicolas Becker, around 4,000 guests arrived, including Brigitte Macron, Catherine Deneuve, the actresses Cate Blanchett, Emma Stone, Jennifer Connelly, Millie Bobby Brown, then singer and actor Jaden Smith, singer Kelly Rowland, just to name a few.

It is a special collection which, although placed in the Autumn-Winter 2024-2025 seasonality, testifies to a decade of fashion, with references-memories that trace the vocabulary of the future.

There are the most loved style details, in a contemporary version.

There are the beloved futuristic looks (between total white, silver or gold, and applied details such as reflective mirrors), voluminous skirts with ruffles and hyper-structured jackets with rigid shoulder pads, vests that take up the idea of varsity jackets, chic suits in gray and the inevitable must-have accessories.

The extra detail?

The mitten gloves.

A familiar wardrobe, revisited.

A special evening, in short, which concludes the Parisian fashion week dedicated to pret-a-porter.

In the letter sent to the guests to invite them, Ghesquière wanted to remember the immense joy he felt during that debut, a feeling that is still very present in him.

But there is no nostalgia, on the contrary.

''This evening is a new dawn'', he writes, explaining that he wants to continue this journey with an open mind to the future and the world.

He thanks Bernard Arnault for his trust, Delphine Arnault, then Michael Burke (the CEO of Louis Vuitton with whom he began his creative direction adventure) and Pietro Beccari (the current CEO) and then lets his collection do the talking: a journey in retrospect , with memory guiding the imagination.
