In this Olympic year, entry prices to the 14 sites and museums of the City of Paris remain stable, unlike many

In 2024, Paris Musées will keep the permanent collections of the capital's 12 municipal museums free of charge.

“Even if free access does not solve everything, prices can be a barrier to visiting for many audiences,” argues Carine Rolland, deputy (PS) at Paris town hall in charge of culture.

“This is why keeping the collections openly accessible is a strong and constant political choice for the City of Paris.

Proof of this commitment, the subsidy granted by the City for the management of the 14 sites in the network reaches 56.2 million euros in 2024, or 1 million more than in 2023.

A pass for 24 euros sold between June and September

In this Olympic year, Paris Musées will offer a special Olympic Collector's Pass between June and September.

Priced at 24 euros, it will be valid for two weeks and will give access to temporary exhibitions.

The public establishment has also chosen not to increase the price of the latter, the full price of which ranges between 9 and 15 euros depending on the size of the museums.

Which does not mean that their price has not increased.

At the Museum of Modern Art in Paris (16th century), one of the busiest, the price of a ticket at the cash register has, for example, increased by 4 euros since 2013, including 2 euros since 2019.

The Catacombs “help finance other museums in the network”

According to Paris Musées, these increases are justified by “post-pandemic economic impacts which have generated a sharp increase in costs, particularly for fluids, raw materials and the transport of works”, but also by renovation work.

The pricing policy is, on the other hand, significantly steeper with regard to the Catacombs, one of the two sites managed by Paris Musées, whose ticket price has jumped 140% in ten years.

“It’s one of the

must-sees

in Paris which attracts an international audience,” explains Agnès Benayer, director of audience development, partnerships and communication.

The strength of the Paris Museums network is to pool revenues, so the Catacombs make it possible to finance the museums in our network which have fewer visitors.
