There is a change in the range at Aldi Süd.

Customers can be happy.

Because the consumer advice center called for the measure.

Munich – Everyday shopping is a burden for many people.

After a 9 to 5 job, they rush to the supermarket or discount store and hastily grab the shelves.

Without giving it much thought, the same products fall into the cart week after week.

However, if there are changes in the product range, shopping will take more time.

This could now happen to consumers at Aldi.

The discounter removes a product from the range and replaces it.

Aldi is changing its range – cheap meat is being replaced

In the future, Aldi Süd will no longer be offering cheap, low-farming turkey meat.

As a press release shows, the discounter instead relies “for fresh turkey meat exclusively on the higher farming method 3 and 100 percent on German origin”.

The conversion of the entire fresh meat range as well as chilled meat and sausage products to farming methods 3 and 4 was originally supposed to be completed by 2030.

However, Aldi has accelerated the process and, with the change to fresh turkey meat, has reached “an important milestone in its animal welfare promise of husbandry change a good six years earlier than originally planned”.

As the consumer advice center informs on its website, “only forms of husbandry 3 and 4 represent significantly improved animal husbandry”.

However, the offers in Germany would predominantly come from husbandry types 1 and 2, it was said in June 2023. “The consumer advice center is calling on retailers and the meat industry to significantly expand the range of meat products in husbandry types 3 and 4.”

Product changes for the sake of the animals - but there are exceptions at Aldi Süd

Aldi Süd is now apparently complying with the consumer advice center's request, at least in partial steps.

However, the discounter's announcement shows that the changes do not apply to "(international) specialties and frozen items as well as promotional items".

Another change has also been in force in Germany since February 1st.

There is an obligation to label the country of origin of meat.
